Let's Look At Gravity & Commission first
With thousands of products to choose from, how do you know which is the best Clickbank product to promote and that will perform the best for you?
Here are some tips that I use to help me choose a good Clickbank product to become an affiliate for.
1. Gravity
Gravity would have to be the first factor I look for when deciding on a product. Gravity tells us roughly how many other people are making sales with the product. The higher the number, the more people are selling it.
So does a high gravity product mean you should automatically choose it?
... Sometimes ... Depends.
While I realise that's a little vague there are a number of other factors that you will need to consider before choosing your product.
Most of the products I choose have a gravity of over 40. I rarely promote new products because I just don't know if they are going to be winners or not.
Be careful about choosing products with gravity over 100. This means you have a lot of competition and it'll be harder to stand out from the crowd.
2. Commission
The next thing I look at is how much money I am going to make per sale. I like anything over $20, but preferably closer to $30.
This means that any money or time I spend promoting the product is worth my time.
Whether you choose ppc or other free methods of promotion, factoring in hours or work to just make $10 per sale is usually not cost effective unless you think you can sell hundreds of that product.
I would rather spend less time to make more money.
How To Choose The Best Clickbank Product to Promote
If you are really serious about choosing the best product from Clickbank to promote then you are going to have to think outside the box a bit and NOT do what every other affiliate out there is doing.
Let's take for example one of the highest gravity products on Clickbank right now - Fat Loss 4 Idiots.
Do a search for the product name in Google and you are going to get THOUSANDS of results. That's WAAAAY to many to try and compete with.
So should you ignore the product altogether?
Well not necessarily because it's possible to still make money promoting it. But you have to be different than 99% of the other affiliates out there.
In fact, did you know that some of the most successful affiliates for FL4I don't actually write reviews on the product or even weightloss or diet articles? Nup, they don't.
Instead they understand that the target market is probably women in their 30's so they write about OTHER things that that target audience might be interested in such as beauty, career, juggling motherhood etc AND THEN they have prominent FL4I ads in the sidebar of their blog or somewhere else on their sites that get's attention.
They are no longer competing in the highly competitive fat loss market - instead they are targeting the AUDIENCE directly who isn't even looking for that info but would probably be interested in it anyway - similar to the way that women's magazines work.
Therefore you can still choose the high gravity, best clickbank products but you need to get smart about it.
Getting Traffic
Obviously no matter whether you are promoting a Clickbank product or your own product - the key is getting traffic to your site.
As mentioned you can either use paid for traffic (such as Adwords) or free traffic.
Some great free traffic ideas include:
- article marketing e.g. ezinearticles
- forum marketing
- bum marketing
- SEO
- writing ebooks
- eBay e.g. classified ads
- social marketing e.g. facebook
- using squidoo lens and hubpages (like this one)
And much more.

It varies. Of course the more hubs you have the more chance you have of making sales, and hubpages ranks pretty well on it's own so it's pretty good.

I often wondered what gravity was. I personally find it hard to make much with Clickbank. To me many items seem a bit, well, amatureish. Maybe it's just my niche.

Good advice and a very useful hub. ClickBank is my favourite affiliate network by far and I've made a lot of money promoting their products. I think it's one of the best ways to start out because you can make money without even having to bother with your own product, or even a website.

How much you are earning using click bank ?
It's interesting reading everyones comments and helps to give me ideas on promoting my clickbank product. There are so many great products to promote on clickbank but I do think some are a bit nasty! I always purchase the product first so I can give it a true review and will only promote something that is as good as it is promised to be. I don't think I could sleep at night deliberately ripping people off like so many click bank promoters do! sorry..
Clickbank does pay more than Adsense when you know how to target the ads really well, this happens because the sales pages are more attractive and the advertiser or merchant in this case makes less money per sale.

Hi Marlene, glad I could help. Bum marketing is a form of article marketing for those that don't have a website. It's basically putting your affiliate links directly into the article rather than sending them to a website. So named because any bum can do it LOL!
